Epic Theatre Ensemble Spring 2016
Associate Director: Worked on Shakespeare Remix project, an after-school youth development program in Lower Manhattan, Harlem, and the Bronx that mounts a full Shakespeare production in which students perform alongside professional actors. In 2009, Epic Theatre & Shakespeare Remix received the National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award. Duties included editing scripts, directing scene work, staging, leading rehearsals and cast warm-ups.
Shakespeare in Venice Summer School: The Shylock Project Summer 2016
Student Scholarship Recipient: Attended the Shakespeare in Venice Summer School organized by Fondazione Giorgio Cini, consisting of a two-week conference on The Merchant of Venice, including the first staging of Merchant in the Venetian ghetto. Delivered a paper on Elizabeth Cary’s The Tragedy of Mariam, the Fair Queen of Jewry.
Discover Shakespeare, Belfast Ulster Museum Spring 2016
Organizing Committee Member: Collaborated with Professor Edel Lamb (QUB) and two other MA students to curate a museum event introducing children of all ages to Shakespeare and the early modern era. Devised activities included Shakespearean monologues and word games, Shakespearean treasure hunts, Elizabethan ruff making, live performances.
Cornell University Big Red Shakespeare Troupe 2008 - 2012
Co-founder and President: Created a Shakespeare company and directed/ produced two full-scale productions, each with a cast of 20-30 students and audiences of approx. 160 people per night. Specific tasks include artistic direction and stage blocking, choreography, text analysis, costuming, set design, front of house/ticket sales, coordination and marketing.
Cornell University Impact Dance Troupe 2009 - 2012
Public Relations Officer for Executive Board: Performed as a dancer in twenty-seven different pieces and choreographed nine original dances, including two ten-minute pieces and one finale number. Choreographed “Street Noise”, which was selected as a performance piece for the Herbert F. Johnson Museum of Art “Museum Night” in Fall 2009. Choreographed two pieces for the Locally Grown Dance Festival at the Schwartz Center for Performing Arts. Facilitated marketing/ PR, including social networking/media, on-campus flash mobs, fliers, radio/ newspaper interviews, photo coverage and videography.
Teach and Tour Cornell University Summer 2010
International Instructor: Traveled to Uganda with two Cornell professors and three Cornell students to teach standard American acting and dance techniques to native Ugandans, in groups of 40-100, in both primary and secondary schools and professional theater troupes, including the Ndere Centre in Kampala, Uganda.
